JEE (Main) For Admission to Under Graduate Engineering Courses – 2026

The Joint Entrance Examination JEE (Main) will be conducted in two sessions by the National Testing Agency. There are approximately 63,250 seats available across 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and 38 GFTIs as per the 2025-26 seat matrix. The exam serves as the eligibility test for JEE (Advanced) for admission to IITs. Admissions for the session 2026-27 will be based on the NTA scores achieved in the January and April sessions.

JEE (Main) – 2026 is a Computer Based Test (CBT) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is a uniform entrance examination for engineering and architecture programs, available in 13 languages including English, Hindi, and 11 other regional languages to ensure national accessibility.

Pattern of JEE (Main) – 2026 (Paper 1: B.E./B.Tech)

JEE Main 2026 Eligibility

  • There is no age limit for candidates appearing in JEE (Main) 2026.
  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 or equivalent in 2024, 2025, or appearing in 2026.
  • For admission to NITs/IIITs/GFTIs, candidates must secure 75% marks (65% for SC/ST) in Class 12 or be in the top 20 percentile of their board.
